The cache is NOT at the coordinates listed above. At those coordinates you will see the one and only marker (gravestone) with the name on the top. You will need that name to get the coordinates to the final. This is an easy two stage multi cache. The marker at the above coordinates is just to the left of the road, on top of the hill just beyond the gate as the road curves around to the right; you might be able to see it from the gate, or if you can zoom in with your camera, you can see the name and figure out the coordinates to the final, which is very close by. From the gate, that is the one and only marker visible from the gate area; all the other markers are on the other side of that hill.
The name on that marker has 10 letters. Using "letter equals a number" (A=1, B=2, C=3, etc), the final is at:
N 38 55. (ninth letter) (fourth letter) (seventh letter)
W 105 16. (fourth letter) (second letter) (sixth letter)
The six digits that you need for the final coordinates add up to 29. If your six digits do not add up to 29, please try again.
The original Colorado Spirit Quest #27-Florissant Cemetery was GC1EVWD and was archived on June 11, 2011. We are keeping this one going by placing a new container in a slightly different spot and with the permission of the CSQ "managers" (Ivy Dog Parents) are using the original CSQ number.
Some history of the cemetery can be found here.
! The Exciting Cache Series!
“COLORADO SPIRIT QUEST”
REMEMBER:
If you are APPREHENSIVE about cemeteries – AVOID this series.
The Colorado Spirit Quest is a series of Caches placed by many individuals, near cemeteries and historic sites in hopes of paying respect to the many pioneer ancestors that have ‘walked’ before us.
If you are interested in being a part of this project, contact may be made by sending an e-mail to the owner of “Colorado Spirit Quest #1 – Mountain Passage”. Use the ‘Send Message” link at the center of the page of their profile.
There are hundreds of cemeteries in the rural and mountain communities across Colorado. This series will introduce you to many of them.
The cache pages will provide a virtual history tour of the cemeteries and tombstones.
The CSQ endeavor is an enormous and relentless task and will only flourish if there is a multitude of volunteer cachers who are willing to place these caches.
After locating the cache container, take some time to reflect back on the lives of those pioneers and the effort it took to make Colorado such a great state.
Each person that places a CSQ cache is responsible for its maintenance.
Thanks to the many volunteers that have help to kept CSQ up-to-date.
New VOLUNTEERS are always Welcome
Congratulations to hartsdale -- FTF of all three new caches of ours; this was the second !!
