Colorado mountain top geocache with amazing panoramic views. Hiking requied – non technical.PSM Geocache “Pisgah Single Malt”…a favorite place of the Single Malt Duo Instructions to Geocache: Mount Pisgah is the mountain in the Bible from which Moses saw the Promised Land for the first time The Mt. Pisgah in our neighborhood is a beautiful (perhaps the most beautiful) place for a geocache. We created this geocache on January 1, 2011 (1/1/11) and finally placed it on February 13, 2011, a beautiful “blue-bird” blue sky, very windy day. Finding this geocache will require a strenuous ½ mile climb (600’ of elevation gain). No motorized vehicles are allowed past the parking area. Please observe this restriction. Our neighbor and friend, John Hicks, has been repairing the damage done to this beautiful mountain for years. We call him the steward of Mt. Pisgah and you will find a signpost in his honor at .17 mile up the marked trail. Honor him as well by staying on the marked trail please. You will travel up through lovely aspen groves and see the signs of the many wildlife that call this mountain their own. It makes us sad when we read of hunters up here as we think of Mt. Pisgah as a refuge of sorts. The sign-in at the top of the mountain is NOT the geocache, You will be treated to an amazing vista (from left to right): saddle at Genesse; Squaw and Chief Mountains; Mt. Evans and Bierstadt; Grays and Torrey’s; and then the Continental Divide expanse from Breckinridge to James Peak. Enjoy and please “tread lightly”. Just past the 1 mile mark up Fall River Road from I-70 take the right turn up York Gulch Road. The trailhead is up York Gulch Road 3 miles at N39-48.167 W105-34.362. Cross under the log fence and up the trail to the NorthWest.
08/11/2018 By Greasepot 8:23:00 AM I've been looking forward to this hike for a while. Thanks! Left two travel bugs. The roads were pretty good and I drove my 2 wheel drive vehicle almost to the trailhead.
07/04/2018 By COpackrat Had a nice hike up to the top this morning before it got too hot. Very nice views from the top and a nice cache - thanks!
09/14/2017 By Back Country Horsemen That was quite a hike but so well worth it. We stopped a few times to wait out some sprinkles and a thunder or two but made it to the top.
01/04/2015 By crawfordjohn66 Boxing Day snowshoe up Pisgah to check on geocache. Very cold and windy. Our traditional trip to Mother/Father was saved for 12/27 this year.
