46th State

State bird: Scissortail flycatcher
State flower: Oklahoma Rose

Evidence exists that native peoples traveled through Oklahoma as early as the last ice age, but the state's first permanent inhabitants settled in communities accentuated with mound-like structures near the Arkansas border between 850 and 1450 AD. Spaniard Francisco Vásquez de Coronado traveled through the state in 1541, but French explorers claimed the area in the 1700s and it remained under French rule until 1803, when all the French territory west of the Mississippi River was purchased by the United States in the Louisiana Purchase.

Cowboys drove cattle across the state in the late 19th century.Thousands of Native Americans, including those making up the "Five Civilized Tribes", were removed from their lands in Mississippi, Florida, Alabama, Georgia, and Tennessee and transported to Oklahoma in the 1830s on the Trail of Tears. The area, already occupied by Osage and Quapaw tribes, was designated Indian Territory by the Indian Removal Act of 1830 and the Indian Intercourse Act of 1834. Fifteen tribes were given land within the territory in 1830, but by 1890, more than 30 tribes had been allocated federal land.

A lot of finders of the area caches recently, but none on this one since February. That includes me. Looked for about ten minutes. No joy.

Out getting the daily cache for the streak and birthday caches. There is a nest of mid-feb caches in the area so guess I will be making almost daily trips. Everything in good shape. TFTC!

Out with best caching buddy GanderGoose this morning before the game. Game was a disappointment, unlike our caching adventure. Got 21 with no DNFs! Thank you for this placement Imusttravel2000. GG tried to get me to sing Oklahoma! Didn't know the words.

Went on a spontaneous geocaching adventure with my fine friend, #1 Beefers. Nice new container and log. Do enjoy the State series. Thanks for the placement, Imusttravel2000!

I gave a quick look but was not able to come up with it. I parked by the cache and a trucker wasn't happy that I parked there. It was a Sunday so I didn't think it would be too busy. Thank you for your series of caches.

I had no luck here, checked 4 trees including the one at good GZ. Figured I knew what container was. I have this uncanny ability to sense which caches have gone freshly missing, and somehow put them on my list for the day. So we'll see, think needs owner check.
