NOTE

This cache requires customized and unique props that are not easy to replace. Earlier versions of this cache saw lots of abuse and bad behavior from members of our geo-community. Prior to attempting the cache, please respect the following:

1. Please handle components carefully. Do not break, bend, destroy, or steal items.

2. Take the time to reset the cache exactly as you found it for the next cacher.

3. Due to concerns over the cache props, please do not attempt the cache while raining or snowing.

4. Giving or receiving hints, spoilers, partial or full final coordinates to/from other cachers is considering cheating. Please make the find on your own merits.

If you are unable or unwilling to abide by these simple courtesies, please pass over this cache. Thanks.

Welcome to Spare Parts Cache IV, a two stage mystery cache that is the next stage of evolution from the original Spare parts Cache. Thanks to modifications and upgrades, this cache should provide a geocaching adventure worthy of your time, even if you found the original. Please be prepared for terrain and weather conditions typical with this part of the Rocky Mountains. Note the listed attributes.

In order to obtain the final coordinates, finders will showcase their superior micro, or point, searching skills against tools and technology manufactured over the past 50 years. At the posted coordinates you will begin your hunt by looking for the Spare Parts Toolbox. The combination to the Toolbox is 4444.

Inside the toolbox you will find tools, parts, and the Clue Checklist. The Clue Checklist provides additional tips and clues to help your hunt. This item is a physical checklist, vice an addition to the cache description, to ensure it is accessible and can be read right before you begin your search of the toolbox.

Hidden on the tools and parts are the final coordinates. The coordinate numbers you are looking for are white numbers on a brown background. These coordinate numbers will clearly be aftermarket "add on" numbers; not "factory" or permanently marked. The picture below shows examples of WHAT and WHAT NOT to look for:

The actual final coordinate numbers you are looking for may be a bit harder to find than these examples. Please do not bring your own tools to this waypoint, everything and anything you might need is in the toolbox. You DO NOT earn your special tools attribute here. While nothing in the toolbox is inherently dangerous; remember that all tools and electronics can be dangerous, have sharp edges, and can cause minor injury...handle them with the same care that you would any tool in a shop.

As a bonus, the toolbox contains permanent TBs that you can log, if you can find them. Even if you can't find all of the coordinates to the final, you will at least have 2 cool TBs to log. Please leave the TBs in the toolbox and only add / exchange TBs at the final.

Once you have assembled the final coordinates, you can proceed to the final hide. It is at the final hide that you will earn your special tool attribute. Remember that "special tool" means Geocaching special tools / Tools of The Trade (TOTT); so you can leave your wrenches, power saws, and laser levels at home. The final coordinates are:

N 38 AB.CDE

W 104 VW.XYZ

Good Luck and I hope you enjoy the cache!

I had done one of the previous incarnations of this cache so I knew what we were in for. We all looked over the parts until we couldn't stand the cold wind anymore. We had enough to try it and it all worked out. TFTC

I understand the CO has an incredible workshop. That, a clever imagination and the skill to put it all together is what would be needed to construct something like this. As other cachers did before us, we nearly froze to death while searching through the toolbox for the required information. Each cacher on our team had their special skills. GoMRT's skill was a very keen eye, ernie66 and WingsAndTales excel at figuring out a cache location when information is missing. I brought cake to eat, which turned out to be difficult as ernie66 forgot to bring a special tool to cut it with. Neat area for the final as well. Huge thanks to K Trackers for several fun days of caching.

Stopped in today with GoMRT, estes01, and WingsAndTales. With all of us looking, we got most of the clues pretty quickly but were stymied on a couple. Fortunately, the clues we couldn't find weren't necessary to locate the final container. The temperature was dropping as we sat there poring over the spare parts and by the time we closed up the toolbox, we were all shivering. Fun cache, thanks!

This one looks strangely familiar. With four sets of eyes pouring over the details, you would figure we'd find all of the info, but that was not true (just as a previous cacher noted). There was a large amount of info found to make a calculated decision where to go to find the final by the direction finder of the group. Each person looked over the details of the parts to eliminate the easy finds leaving us with the hard finds to search a couple times over. Once we had enough of the cold wind blowing through the tool box area, we packed it back up carefully and replaced it where it was protected for the next cacher.

Making our way over to the final location using the calculated coordinates, we were able to climb here, search there and come up with the final location and cache container. Have to hand it to the CO here, a lot of quality time spent on this one. I will give a favorite point for this one and the work going into it. The view was awesome and also in the warmth of the sun without the wind reminding us snow is coming!!

Thanks for the fun Letterbox cache!

Came out this way to get a few of the newer caches with CrumbCrunchers and the little critters (Button and MarauderJude). We spent a good deal of time at another cache and ran short of time to get them all. It was a fun afternoon getting out in the mountains and enjoying the scenery and fresh air!

This one was a lot of fun beginning to end. We parked at the waypoint listed and made the short hike back. Quick find for part one. Much much time spent actually finding the information needed! Kids had a good time too. The wind had picked up and my poor Jude was freezing. After some time we had enough information to head out to the final. I'll admit, we didn't find all the clues...

Onto the final location. Great spot! What fantastic views! We climbed all over in search of the final. Eventually I managed to find an area we hadn't looked over and there it was! Nice twist! I initially cursed the CO's name but quickly took it back. Ha ha ha! Thanks for the adventure and laugh!

Adding a favorite for all the hard work that went into this and the challenge! Great Job!
