This is a special cache adventure for you hikers out there. This 5.5 mile loop trail will take you through the little known and very scenic "Button Rock Preserve".
The City of Longmont owns and maintains the B.R.P. Be prepared for a unique experience while visiting this walk-in-preserve. Longmont uses the Button Rock Reservoir (now called Ralph Price Reservoir) as a water source for the city's water utility. Longmont also manages the natural watershed in the area and has a Forest Stewardship Program.

After parking at N40°13.705 W105°20.565 hike WxS past the Longmont Reservoir to the Sleepy Lion trailhead. Take this trail up to the cache (overlook) then continue on down toward the R.P. Reservoir. The trail will turn into a dirt road which will come to a marked intersection. Left goes to the reservoir and right is the loop road back to the parking area.

Many trips through this trail, and we never saw it until we started geocaching! It was always out in the open and easy to spot, making it a cleverly rewarding and easy find!

Beautiful spot to rest after working your way uphill. In fact, I did just that last year when I came here with a running group. We had 15 peoplle within feet of this cache and nobody was the wiser (myself included). I brought my GPS today and found this quickly.

Thanks for the cache. I had to stop and talk to a couple of hikers and say hi to their dog while I took in the view of the lake (which was very nice), then go get the cache when they were leaving.

Dropped a Denali souvenir coin, took a trackable.

We were happy to reach the high point of the trail by the time we got here. The cache was a quick find and is in good condition, but it's the views that make this spot special. It's kind of the point of the whole trail. Thanks for bringing us here.
