We own over 30 caches along this stretch of road and the two standout unfound caches on the map have been bugging us for well over a year, wanting to clean them up so the icons all blend in.
Wanting today's souvenir we decided today was the day. Waited until cool of evening, then visited friends that live off the grid way up in Roubideau Canyon and then came out to grab this and Cabin Fever II.
We got off to a bad start as the tiny little phone sized map I had saved made it look like the cache was right along side the road - it ISN"T! and quite a scramble up to where it IS! Next mistake was letting the idea of the previous find at Colorado Wonderland influence our thinking on this one. 20 minutes of looking over all the trees withing 20' had us "tree'd" with nothing. I had previously read through a few of the logs for BOTH caches before leaving home, had them saved in the phone but to lazy to reread them, sat down beside a tree (for shade) to think and recalled one them from one of the caches (which?) talking about hiding in xxx sight, that got me to thinking - without moving reached over and plucked the cache from it's hiding place!
Beautiful view! Niffty cache (only seen one like it before, by same CO - look at all those dead trees) tricky hide - all of which gets it a FAV point!
