PETER PAUL & MARY

No American folk group has lasted longer or amassed a more loyal following than Peter, Paul and Mary. During its now legendary career, the trio won 5 Grammy's, produced 13 Top 40 hits, of which 6 ascended into the Top 10 - as well as 8 gold and 5 platinum albums.

In order to find this cache, you must solve the following:

What is the number of letters in Paul's last name? This number + 1= A

Arguably, PP&M's most famous song was "Puff the Magic Dragon". This song was inspired by another Dragon in a poem by a famous American poet. Take the numerical value of the first letter of this Dragon's name and square it. This number = B

Add up the numerical values of the consonants in Puff's best friend's last name, then divide by 10. This number = C

"Paul" was Paul's middle name. Add up the numerical values of the vowels in Paul's first name. Subtract the value of the only letter in Puff's best friend's last name that is repeated. This number = D

Find the cache at N40 24.(A)7(B)   W105 08 (C)0(D)

Found with Cache U on a nice spring day. Took more looking than we expected after the hike up, but eventually found it lying out in the open. Replaced in a more secure and typical spot. Thanks for the fun!

Found with Sam_I_AM. We approached from the east 0.23 mi away. Boy are there a lot of cacti there! Searched several spots at GZ, and eventually found the bison tube lying out in the open. Replaced it in a more secure place, although probably not where it was originally. We enjoyed the views from there, thanks for the fun!

Tough hide! Although that may be because there's still a little snow up there. I was digging around for ages before I finally found it. Beautiful views and the dog had a nice walk. Wish I'd brought my camera!

I tried to find access to this cache a couple of weeks ago. Not being a local made it harder. The East seemed the likeliest and closest but I could find a path through the houses there. The North was marked no trespassing and the West has a new development and marked private as well. I did get a hint that there was access from the East was possible. Today I tried the path from the South which is further. It wandered around around a bit before crossing a ditch. Then it was almost a direct path, but extremely hot. Anyway thanks for a fun puzzle. I'm looking forward to Folk Music #2. Cheers.
