Welcome to this edition of Kilroy's Fractured History.
This week we shall learn the story behind Smudgewater Castle.
It was built in the Kingdom of Kurkstine during the 1500s.
To save on construction costs, the castle was built of dissolvable
materials.
Within the first three decades the castle began to dissolve due to
the heavy rains that occur in Kurkstine. The structure became
unlivable. Abandon, the structure continued to dissolve over the
centuries.
In 1903, a shoppng center was built in the area. A roadway and parking
area was built for public use. It is known that a time capsule was placed
at that time. Today the remains of Smudgewater Castle are often called the
Smudgewater speed bump.

Today is your time to find the "time capsule", pick the log
out with tweezers and sign the log. Show future visitors that you have visited
Smudgewater Castle.

Much better weather than when it was found the first time. There's been more snow since then, so mine were the only tracks. Nicely done. Thanks, Dusty.

Today I started my geo-adventure in the Globeville area, moving north toward Thornton. Only 2 DNF's, so it was a great day!
This one gave my geo-sense and geo-skills a run for their money. Love the placement and container. Tftc!

I planned on heading out at lunch today to grab a puzzle, and then it started snowing between 9:30 and 10. Well… by lunchtime it was even worse. What if maybe there’s one under a skirt I can more or less pick up from the car? Eh, ok, I’ll look. Then I saw the green dot with the magic FTF banner across it. Wait a second, I check email and sure enough it published about an hour before. Man, I hate snow. Like a cat hates water. Probably other people don’t like snow, either. Ok, I’ll just go look. I drove on over to GZ, big flakes, slippy slushy roads and all. When I got there I wound up parking and reparking a couple times. For a geocacher, my sense of direction is not good! Dusty’s coordinates are usually spot-on, so I decided to give it a go. I’m still learning about snow and did not expect to get attacked by flakes the second I stepped out of the car. I could tell within a minute I was covered! I didn’t see any footprints (good sign) so I got to work. Decided to change my angle and made the find pretty quickly. Of course I didn’t follow directions and left the tweezers in the car. Once back in the car, I could see in the mirrors my hair was so wet it looked like I just stepped out of the shower. Unrolled the blank log and did a happy seat wiggle! (no room for a dance) Put the cache back, did the best I could to towel off my hair with my sleeves, and dried a little more of it with the car heater turned all the way up. LOL I don’t know why I do this to myself, but I guess I feel like I don’t get many opportunities to get an FTF. Or maybe I’m a little more FTF hound-y than I care to admit. Sorry to complain about the snow, but it added to the adventure today and I always appreciate a new cache.

Thank you dustyriver for the {*FTF*} at 12:12 and find #3132! Yes, I’m that kind of crazy!
