GCHH27 Multi-cache Spammer's High Line Canal Cache
Type: Multi | Size: Regular Regular | Difficulty: 4.5 out of 5 | Terrain: 1.5 out of 5
By: Spammer @ | Hide Date: 01/17/2004 | Status: Available
Country: United States | State: Colorado
Coordinates: N39° 51.857 W105° 04.359 | Last updated: 08/30/2019 | Fav points: 7

This hike is about 1.1 miles one way to the cache. Ample parking is available just northwest of starting co-ordinates. You can cut the walk in half by starting at step 4, but you may curse just a bit! Cache is camoed plastic jug!
1. Three towns worship, and three streets intersect here. Both have signs with similar 4 digit numbers. Assign the matching digits as A, B & C. Use the non-matching digits as D & E, in ascending order of value. The trail begins at a most high-powered location.

2. Proceed to N EB° CD.8AE, W D0C° 04.2BD. To shed additional light on the path to your quest, find the 3 across and 2 down matrix of digits. Reading them normally, assign those digits which you have not previously seen, to the values of F,G,H & I.. You may insure correctness with the following equation: HI minus FG, should equal 28.

3. Continue on to N 39° C1.8A2, W 105° IF.GIH. Once there, you will need to get a handle on things to determine x number of columns and y number of slots. The value for J is equal to ½(y) – x. Another way to calculate J: x squared, times two. You may now go directly to step 7 if you wish, or you can double check your numbers by working through steps 4-6.

4. Proceed to N 39° 52.059 W 105° 04.124. If you are shortening your walk and just joining us here, you need to assign the numbers you find to letters. Due east of this point is a yellow house with a flagpole over the garage. Assign the digits you see there to the letters BFDA.

5. Proceed to N 3B° 52.083 W 105° 0F.D38. Relax, take a load off your feet, and enjoy the mountain scenery. How many windows do you see in the structure nearest to you? Assign the letter E to this value!

6. Proceed to N EB° (F+D), (A-F).2(A+G)2 W D05° 0E.(D+A) 52.)

(Since the numbers have been painted over here (See log of 7/16/08) I have added 1/2 star to difficulty, and a hint for 7.) Here you will find a powerful clue in the form of a 6 digit number, above a two digit number. Assign these six digits to the letters GJIHCI. Long walkers should be doubly prepared. Short hikers should be playing with a full deck by now as well.

7. Cache location at N EB° CG.GCJ W DIC° IE.AHD.

Please note in your log entry if you were a "Longwalker" or a "Shortwalker".

I suppose I was a longwalker although I did move the car closer once I knew where I was headed. Cache was out in the open and has a small hole in the lid. No water so far and I moved it a couple of feet to provide some cover.

Hunted this one for a "regular" sized fizzy square (#78 of 81) and probably fills a multi square too. Made the long walk, so that I could find other caches along the trail and enjoy the nice walk. Found at the new location. Cheers!

I found this on a cold night while looking for another cache. I doubt it is in the right place because it was within 60 feet or so of another cache. I was looking for that cache when I stumbled on this one.

This was a fun cache to work through all the steps and find. I was a longwalker. Cache is in good condition. Although it had not been logged in the geocaching app as found in over a year, there are at least 4 entries on the paper log with 2020 dates. TFTC

2/11 today with bunnyscout5. I've had this on my list of multis for years! We were "longwalkers" and enjoyed the path and the puzzles. I'm interested to learn more about the Semper Farm, as well as whatever building used to be at the final. Saw a bunny on the way back from the final stage, which was bunnyscout5's favorite part of the multi. Also, a couple of mallards were in the canal quacking quietly to themselves. Bunnyscout5 left a miniature koosh ball thing. TFTC!

This is one of the final DT combos I need to have a fizzy grid of just multis. I worked through the clues and everything went smoothly. The coords were spot on for the final. The container had a hole in the lid but the log was in surprisingly good shape since it has been over 2 years since the last find. I put some duct tape over the hole but the container could still use some TLC. I also picked up the TB to get it moving again. TFTC

Can’t get 1

As it happens with many field puzzle type multis there always seems to be one element that doesn't quite click in completely & this one was no exception but my 2nd solution worked & I found the final in a really neat place. I dropped a trackable that wants to find his snowboard. Perhaps someone had one to give him.

Out on a Thanksgiving Day caching run with PayMeCache, heh324, and T&A137 after attending an event nearby. PayMeCache brought his three boys and they decided to drive with "Uncle Fish" while the adults were in PMC's cachemobile. I still don't know how I pulled the short straw. It's a good thing it was a holiday because we were anything but stealthy.

This cache was challenging since we were short walkers. As others have noted, one of the last items is no longer legible. So, we went back and read the description for the long walkers. After making some educated guesses, we came up with a set of coordinates that seemed plausible and went looking for the final. Since we knew that our coords had room for error, we spread out and found lots of possibilities within a given area. I pointed out one specific spot to PayMeCache that looked good and he came up empty. I went back to the same area and made the grab. Since this happens so rarely, I gloated accordingly. Thanks for the fun hide and your addition to a great day of caching.

Good to be out for some holiday caching with fearthefish, PayMeCache and T&A137! It was really cold, so it was nice to have these great minds working together to solve this one quickly. TFTC

Came up for the Thanksgiving morning event at the nearby donut shop. Afterwards we headed out to find some caches in the area. Out with fearthefish, heh324 and new friend T&A137 for some Turkey Day fun. Today was quite chilly, especially with that cold wind. We all had a great time. Because of the cold wind we walked fast and cached as quickly as possible so we could get back in the car to warm up before getting to the next cache. None of us had found many caches up North here so were set out to find as many caches in the area as we could before we had to part ways. Thanks for a fun cache, Spammer.

Wow, even as short walkers this was a difficult one. We never did figure out all the values so we had to make an educated guess... Which led us to a spot that really didn't look promising but we went anyway. Eventually wet found the cache! TFTF

Thanks, Spammer! This was a lot of fun walking the trail and trying to figure out the coordinates for the next stage. Fortunately I had time this morning before we left for the event. I always say that a day with a multi is a good day, so this one gets a favorite point from me. This was one of the closer caches to our house that was still pending. The highlight for the day was attending the WWFM XIII (World Wide Flash Mob) event. Mrs. Tamiuron was able to go with me, and we spend some time on the way and the way back to get some exercise near Washington Park and the South Platt River. I always enjoy the events, and try to make it to as many as I have time for. The caches I found today were all in good shape.

What an enjoyable Multi cache! It took everything to claim a find - searching, math, deduction and geosense. Thanks to Spammer for setting this up and keeping it alive these past dozen years! The final container has a hole in the lid and some of the contents are wet but the log is dry in it's ziplock. During the re-hide, I covered the hole in the lid the best I could to prevent any further water breaching the container. IN - a fancy keychain OUT - nothing TFTH!!

2016 FTF lol.
I forgot paper so wrote on my hand which made things interesting. I was able to grab this smiley by doing only stage 1, 2 and 7 with a dash of geologic. Posting pic of signed log as proof. Thanks for the oldie, multi and 4.5D!
