This is the 35th in my series of Trail Mix caches all made out of Trail Mix jars.

Your hike to this cache should begin at the trailhead for segment 3 of the Colorado Trail (use parking waypoint) but then branch off to the marked Buffalo Burn Trail. At some point of your choosing you will have to head off trail for a ways to get to the cache location.  This part of the hike will be up and down but mostly down so you'll have to come mostly back up to return back to the trail and trail head.

When I hide one of these trail mix caches, I try to find a nice view and some rock formations after a hike and this hide is exactly that. The hike to this cache is about a mile and a quarter one way.

Since you will be off trail, make sure you let someone know where you are going and when you plan to be back.

There are very few trees out here due to the Buffalo Creek fire of 1996 so be sure to bring sunscreen or a hat and water especially in summer.  When I hid the cache it was 27 degrees at the start and 47 when I got back - in January.

When I hid this cache in January, the trails were deserted.  In other times of the year you can expect a lot of hikers and mountain bikers. You can only get about 1/2 to 2/3 of the way to this cache by bike.

It would be great if you posted a photo from the area!

 Hints

A cool pointy rock formation is nearby but the cache isn't in or on it. It's the old "cache under some bark and sticks" trick. Look for a split rock that has been split for quite some time.

Went for a walk today in a burn area with "animjason" and "BearAdair" - we had a fine time, with good weather, and lots of scenic sights (and a couple of geocaches, this being the first of the two). TN-LN-SL. Thanks !

I had fun at this one! Found with animjason, and Bhob. Co-[ftf] with them. Had fun checking out all the SWAG, and tasting the log.

This was the main target today. Has been cold, and windy all week. Today just cold, and no wind so we went. Found with BearAdair, and Bhob.

Sad to see damage still so bad many years later. Picked up a TB, discovered one, left one.

Fun hike. Gets a fave. Love this series. And now we have all of them once again! Look forward to the next one. CO-[FTF].
