Not often I give a favorite point for a DNF, but this was a great adventure. I've driven past this point so many times and had no idea that even the bridge was down here. I tried climbing up to the right side of the drainage but the going was very tough - steep and slippery. Inched my way over to the base of the waterfall, taking care not to slip on snow. I found a path from base of dry waterfall to the first cave, investigated that and the second cave. was hoping it was not in 3rd and highest cave, but wasn't in the other two. climbed about halfway from cave #2 to cave #3 and then decided it would be smart to come back with another human being, rather than just my geodog (just in case someone had to go for help). I came down the drainage, which was not easy, but easier than the way I came up. The only real downer (other than not finding cache) was the parking ticket on car. Better to use the parking coordinates on my new cache that is right across the street.

An awesome geocache! We did use some rock climbing rope to get up the final way!

Found it! Just as a tip to everyone you do not need climbing equipment, and you do not need to climb up too steep. If it looks to rough to climb theres probably a trail around it.

Great hike with amazing views, but couldn't find the prize. We will have to try it again.

Out and about finding caches and being plain silly with none other than the stunning stick figure known by the geocaching community as PayMeCache.
Today was different from our usual misadventures as we (read PayMeCache) decided to tackle this climb up to the caves. Besides my poor eyesight, I am notorious for my complete lack of agility, coordination, and stamina. In other words, I was invited for pure comic relief.
I typically stayed behind PayMeCache on the climb up so that I wouldn't knock him down the hillside should I fall, move one of the many loose rocks, or otherwise affect his ascent from the fog bank I created with my copious amounts of perspiration. Though this strategy worked well for him, it hindered my ability to follow him for multiple reasons.
As it is well known to geocachers and humans alike, my eyesight is extremely far from good. Worms have better eyesight. Even rocks have better vision than I do. When you couple this with the fact that PayMeCache can hide behind a piece of rope... let's just say that I lost sight of him every time he went behind a tree, bush, or twig.
Stand alone, this is not a big deal. However, PayMeCache can only hear 1.66666666667% of the sounds that an average human (or geocacher) can hear. Once I stood more than 1.66666666667 feet away from him, his hearing, somehow, got worse. Thus, shouting to him only got his attention because of all the wildlife I disturbed within a five mile radius.
Somehow we made it all the way to the top without killing ourselves or each other. The view was worth it, as was the self-gratification that my blind and aging well-insulated (read FAT) body could make it up and down without significant injury. What made it best was that the sightless wonder (i.e. ME) was the one who found your large container. I may have mentioned that repeatedly for the rest of the day (not that he heard any of it).
Put simply, this was a memorable experience for both of us and an adventure we will not forget. Moving several travel bugs was an added plus for me. Thanks for finding this spot and sharing it with the rest of us. I never would have known about these caves (let alone make the climb) if not for your cache.

Well Cowboy&Linds, first and foremost, congratulations on your recent award for this cache.
Where my story starts for this is seeing that this cache met a need for my traditional fizzy challenge. It has been on my to-do list for a while now. I made way to this cache in the afternoon of Tuesday, August 15, 2017 however upon my arrival it decided to rain. Not just a sprinkle or light drops... all of a sudden it started 'pouring' rain out of the middle of nowhere. I'm talking about a flood like rain. Seriously? Not even a build up? It was like someone flipped the switch and wanted to prevent me from obtaining my goal. So I sat for a few minutes in my geomobile and the rain just continued to get worse. Water was flowing off the street and into the shoulders of the road like a class 2 river. I debated putting on my rain jacket and just getting after it but I decided against it after I had investigated the trailhead and getting completely drenched. It really hurts to drive away from a cache that you need when you are so close but it isn't the first time this has happened and I know it won't be the last...
So here I am, with a few hours of free time today and I decided to get back up here and get it done. fearthefish ironically had contacted me and asked what I was up to and he decided to join. Rarely will I turn down company to find a cache with unless it is fearthefish but I decided to give him the benefit of the doubt today. As such, off we went.
Thankfully fearthefish is half blind and can only see when things are close up to his face because if he saw what we were about to climb up he probably would have complained and made me take him home. I'll admit, the climb wasn't too joyful at this time of year. Cowboy&Linds, you weren't kidding that we would need to cross the river and go through the woods! Good lord this foliage is thick in here! A lot of army crawling was necessary in certain spots to get under the foliage to stay course on the trail. fearthefish quickly had a glistening stream of sweat rolling off his body that seemed to attract every bug to our vicinity within a 1.666666666666667 mile radius. Hooray!
I can't remember when it was that we looked at each other and realized neither of us had brought any water. This should not surprise heh324 but so far it's not as bad as our poor choices we made hiking through the 103 degree desert in Arizona earlier this year.
We had arrived close to waypoint three (via most likely the hardest possible route). Okay, now how do we get up THAT? fearthefish being the billygoat that he is, decided he was going to show me up and climb up the last few feet to beat me to finding these travel bugs that have been sitting here a while. Alright, well if you're doing it then I guess I'm gonna have to do the same because I will not be left behind. Thankfully neither one of us had to paint an outline of one another's body on the ground from falling. We explored the so called 'caves' and took some photos before finding the correct one that hid the gem we were after. Cache container was right where it was supposed to be but there wasn't a log in it. We rescued the trackables as fearthefish claims but what he will fail to tell you is that it's really to provide his children something to chew on.
Found GC446JW - Cowboy's TB Cave, on August 17, 2017 using Cachly for iOS.
Thank you, Cowboy&Linds for placing a fun cache for all of us to enjoy and giving back to the community. I look forward to finding more of your caches. I also look forward to potentially finding Geocaches with you one day and sharing stories of our hobby or should I say addiction? Cheers!
