Scenic view  Significant hike  Available during winter  Bicycles  Snowshoes  Cross Country Skis  Long Hike (+10km)

This little cache is tucked away close to a short wooden fence down the hill from the 10th Mountain Jackal Hut. This is a beautiful spot, but tough to get to. Try climbing Pearl Peak while you're here.
The cache location is best accessible either by way of a 5-mile, 2600-foot elevation gain hike from the Ranch Creek Trailhead, or a 4WD/snowmobile drive up the Pearl Creek Jeep Road followed by a 1/2 mile bushwhack and then a steep uphill hike. Motorized vehicles are prohibited anywhere near the cache.

Look near the fence; use the hint if needed.

Room for trackables. Please hide well when done. Bring a pen/pencil just in case the one in the box goes bad or missing.

CONGRATULATIONS TO Back Country Horsemen for FTF!

Had to make two trips up here today - on the first I got to within 200 feet of the cache and was turned back by a NFS employee because they were busy cutting down trees in the area. Obviously, since they were small trees (maybe 6" diameter trunks) there was no way that anyone could wait for a break in activity and make a 5 minute search for the cache. So... had to come back after they quit for the day and made the find quickly. I agree with BackCountryHorseman - I can't imagine that the listed first finder ever located this cache - no signature, and swag intact. Stopped by the hut on the way back and chatted with some weekend visitors. Thanks for the cache and the views!

I got to ride up this TOUGH & STEEP 4WD road on my final day here & picked up the two caches. Fantastic 360 degree views once I got to the top & well worth it (my horse probably doesn't agree). It was steep enough that I helped him out & walked with him about 3/4 of the way down on the steepest sections.
I thought the "hut" was really beautiful & would have loved to see inside. I think this may be one that is open in the summer as there was a parking area indicated.
I don't know if the previous logger actually found this cache over 3 years ago as when I opened the log the FTF line & date the CO had in it was unsigned & I could find no other entries in the little log book. So I took the opportunity to sign the FTF line & date it. What they said about the cache being empty otherwise is not true. There is 3-4 pieces of SWAG in the container (I could name 3 if needed) & did not see a PBR? (pro bull riding? Pabst Blue Ribbon?) pin as they said they had left. I wonder if they posted this log on the wrong cache page? It would have been really cool if I could have claimed a FTF on a cache over 3 1/2 years since publishing. As it is I guess I'll have to be happy with the FTF on the one down the road that is over 2 years old since publishing. Thanks for the challenge & I'll award a fav point for one I could ride to!
Update November, 2015-was just notified by the CO that I can claim this as a FTF! Wow-posted on Feb. 2012! I know for a fact this is the oldest FTF I have ever gotten. I posted a photo of the nearby Hut & storm that tried to get me on my way to the cache. I got lucky and it left me alone on my trip back.

Same sad story as "Fixer Upper with a Golden View". Can't call this a DNF, the old jeep wouldn't climb the last steep incline, too many rolling rocks. TCL and I got out and walked up the hill, realized we had another mile and a half and not much day. Not to mention old legs. So gave up, turned around, back to our tent in the group camp and cried in our coffee (church group). A real Jeep with knobby tires passed us on his way down; that's what those tires or for!. TFTH and the -unmet- challenge.
