This fantasy geocaching adventure starts within City Park and will take you near scenic and/or interesting points as you encounter monsters of various shapes and sizes, hunt for hidden clues and, ultimately, locate the hidden treasure (and sign the cache log). You are highly encouraged to stop and check out your surroundings during your visits to a given waypoint and not just rush from one destination to the next. Some of the stops are ESPECIALLY nice Memorial Day through Labor Day (when the water is running).

For those of you who previously found the original Enchanter, many new paths have been added since that time to keep your adventure fresh and new! As such, it is very unlikely that you will be following the same story twice!

Please note: The cache owners have created a special commemorative trackable tag for those that complete this new DPL adventure. Please refer to the "Other Final Notes" section for more information!

What to Expect

* This is a "Choose Your Own Adventure" type cache. The locations you visit during your adventure will vary from party to party and depend on the choices made along the way (and some random luck.)

* Pay special attention to which section you are being directed to next as you complete a task at a given location. DO NOT ASSUME that the next section listed is the one you will be reading and DO NOT READ AHEAD (this will create problems in your ability to complete your adventure).

* Depending on the paths taken during the journey, the total round-trip is expected to be approximately 1-2.5 hours in duration and 1.5-2 miles in walking distance (with FREQUENT stops along the way). You do not need to cross any major roads (except for some roads within the park itself.)

* This cache have been designed with kids (of all ages) in mind. Most waypoints will provide very specific clues to help keep your younger searchers engaged in the hunt during the journey. In addition, any required calculations involved to find the next waypoint will be limited to either very basic number substitutions or simple offset calculations wherever possible.

Important Job Assignments

Before you begin this journey there are also a number of important "jobs" that will need to be assigned to the members of your "party":

* THE BARD - This person will serve as the narrator throughout the journey. Their job will be to DRAMATICALLY read any bolded descriptions, actions and clues presented in this text during the adventure. The bard may also bring a musical instrument on the journey, singing songs about the party's travels, if they wish.

* THE NAVIGATOR - This person will be responsible for holding the "navigational device" and leading the party to each waypoint. They are also tasked with inputting the updated waypoints for each waypoint as required. Finally, the Navigator is empowered to break all tied votes when deciding "where to go" or "what to do".

Required Equipment

The following equipment is highly recommended during this journey:

* One or more copies of "Popular Enchanting" used as a spell-casting reference throughout the quest. It is highly recommended that you print and fold the text as directed. A copy is available from here (visit link)

* A copy of the adventure text http (visit link) must be available to the "Bard/Narrator" during the quest

* A six-sided die (referred to in the text as the "Cube of Assistance")

* A Frotz Emitter (flashlight)

* A note pad and writing implements to keep copious notes (optionally, you can use the pens as wands!)

Recommended Equipment

Although optional, the following equipment is highly recommended for your journey:

* Wands for the "sorcerer" members of your party. You can use your own wands from home, sticks from the park, pencils, etc.

* Comfortable walking shoes

* A sufficient amount of water to accommodate thirsty adventurers

* Adequate protection from the sun (e.g. sunblock, hats, spells, etc.)

* Tweezers

* A photo-capture device (e.g. camera, cell-phone, etc.). People with wands, running through the fields and fighting monsters? Yeah, you'll want to capture some of that.

Other Final Notes

* The cache owners have created a free trackable tag for those cachers who legitimately complete this geocache (limit one per Geonick in your party). To qualify, please keep a copy of your answers and the locations you visited handy after your journey is complete, post a photo of your party in your logs, and then contact the CO for next steps. Qualifying cachers will have their tags mailed to them (or, if local, we will arrange for a meet-up). Please note, we will not mail the tag(s) outside of the United States.

* As you will be journeying through some areas with limited hours of availability, it is highly recommended that you only attempt this cache Monday-Saturday and start your journey no earlier than 8AM and no later than 2PM, to ensure that you will be able to complete the cache in one visit. Please also make the library is open on the day you plan to attempt this cache.

Don't Get Stuck!

There's nothing worse than being unable to complete something you've spent lots of time on. To help make this adventure as fun for your group as possible, please contact the cache owners prior to your journey so they can provide you with a cellphone # for quick/easy access in case your group gets stuck along the way (e.g. can't find a waypoint, etc.)

Journey Onward

When your band of brave adventurers is ready to begin their quest, proceed to the coordinates posted above.

Narrator/Bard, once your group has arrived at these coordinates, refer to the "Adventure Text" document and read aloud the bolded text in section ###001### (for the full introduction) or go to section ###002### for the "short attention span" version).

GOOD LUCK!

Working on the Denver Public Library GeoTour with GotYour6. This one was so much fun. We scratched our heads at a couple of stops but overcame the sorceress, fought dragons and even dealt with the gremlins which plagued our math calculations. Thanks to everyone who worked on this series, you are all so imaginative and inspiring.
A geocaching goal for 2020 is to fill in my 365/366 grid. Feb 22, 2020 is a day needed and now ticked off the list.

Favorite point given for creative cache. Wish we could give multiple favorite points. We had a fantastic adventure this morning exploring and getting the answers. Got to the final and had a little trouble opening the container - read the details in the print out! LOL! Great CO was very helpful. Working on the DPL series with FayColSalTom today. Thank you Cryptosporidium-623, 831, 507, 529 for creating and maintaining a fun cache in this series.

This was so cool!!! I am going to take some out of town friends on this adventure. What a great way to explore the city. It was a perfect winter day to adventure today!

This was a great way to spend MY day -- pursuing a cache that not only contributed to my progress on the DPL series and the 3-2-1 souvenir, but to also complete a block towards the Jasmer challenge. Since mugg-L had the car, I had to rely on public transportation and I realized I was woefully under-equipped. I did have two iOS devices which made things a little easier, and ended up using over 50% of my combined battery power... and still had enough juice to figure my way back home!

Going from stage to stage, there were some potentially ambiguous answers or missing information, but the 'script' contained self-corrections and/or safeguards to ensure that I stayed on track. The final took a little bit of thought (reading comprehension has never been my strongest trait), but in the end, I succeeded in imprinting my name on the magical scroll.

Most excellent job on writing the script, and even though I have explored this area before, I got to see some new sights that I never would have known, to include the dragon eggs and even the presence of a second, smaller dragon! I know this may seem silly, but to me, the kicker of this cache and which had me screaming, "THIS IS TOTALLY AWESOME!" is finding the secret juniper knot.

A big thank you to the CO for all the time that was put into making this cache a reality (fantasy?), and I'm really glad I spent this warm Christmas Eve day to get this smiley. tft , T: 2x TBs, L: Beanie baby. A favorite point, for sure!

This is one of the most awesome caches I've ever done. Very fun and well thought out. Miles ToGeo and I set out this morning on our adventure in full battle gear, you know, t-shirt and shorts. After doing the battles and searches we were able to drive my chariot to the final location and with a bit of trepidation and searching we spotted the Enchanted Walnut and figured out how to get to the log. I traded travel bugs and left with a smile.

Thanks for all the work you put into making this cache work and thanks for the adventure.

TFTHSL took us about 2 1/2 hours from the start of our quest until we were holding the enchanted walnut. Thanks for the adventure.

Super exciting!! Super fun!! Took us awhile to get started but once we got the hang of it we got through it!! Did it with eleven kids in a camp and everyone was super engaged.

My oldest daughter and I completed the original Enchanter quest a long time ago, so when I saw there was an updated version, my youngest daughter and I gave it a shot today. I can't imagine the time that was put in creating this cache! Thank you--we had a blast and will be back again to choose a different adventure!

Greetings from the Kingdom of California! Approve I made a long journey to come to King Roland’s aid. I was well equipped as recommended, although my Smart Frotz Emitter was only 81% charged when I set out from the castle, a lone elf-enchantress. Alas, I lost my collectible copy of "Popular Enchanting" when I was attacked by wolves. I managed to escape and after many more brushes with death I attained my quest, exhausted, bruised, my Smart Frotz Emitter at 47%, and down to my last Grue sandwich.

Swapped TBs at the final, and there were two unactivated trackables so I took one, leaving the other for the next defender of the realm. TFTC!!! CoolCoolCool #1,250 (mini milestone!)

the story line is really cool

Wow! I wanted a really cool cache for my first big milestone of 100 caches. This one popped up the night I hit 99, so it was meant to be!

Admittedly, I slept in my stroller for much of the adventure. Counting those eggs was tiring for me. Can't wait to do this again in a few years when I'll remember it.

Thanks for the awesome Wizard PT! Adding photo. He cast a Slumberus spell on me.

Thanks Cryptosporidium-623, 831, 507, 529! Logged DPL Series: Enchanter from a ninth galaxy using c:geo!

Your adventure caches are always a favorite in our family and the original Enchanter was great. When it posted last night, I was all ready to set out in the morning for a FTF attempt. However, my oldest had to work this morning and we weren't allowed to go without her. I conceded since I'm still thrilled that she enjoys these excursions with the family. We picked her up from work and started a little after lunchtime. We had a great day as usual and even re-created some pictures that we took during the original 6.5 years ago. We really appreciate the time and effort that goes into these and the memories that we make completing them. Posting some pictures of our adventure. I left a wooden nickel and some trade items and picked up the much desired pathtag that I spotted in the final.

CO-{FTF} @ 1100. Saw this adventure publish and thought "Let's return to the battle-scarred remains of Alien Invasion to kick some more butt!". I attempted to round up some hearty men (or the functional equivalent- 1 hearty woman) for the adventure with no luck so started out on my own. I parked at the Temple of Science Stuff (TOSS) and hiked westward towards the castle. I was met on my way by a screaming hoard (aka a 5K/10K race) but managed to avoid destruction and they went on their way pillaging and burning (not really). Got to the first location and located the eggs; decided to take the "easy way". Even I can count that many cannons and off to find a tiny little metal tag (which with my bad eyes is its own adventure). Found the Mystic Divining stones and counted them without taking off my shoes or using a calculator and then off to rumble with a bear! Escaped with my life (and the info I needed); promptly failed to find "Freckles" but did find an even less visible tiny little tag. Off to the north for some spinning, Ahhhhhhhing and Nooooooing before managing to not get squashed by the giant creatures and gaining yet another valuable piece of information (and still keeping my shoes on!). Followed the Walnut off to the "East" (It occurred to me that on another quest that Mordor was in the "East") until I spied the VMWTF (does this place look familiar!). Entered and found the needed tag- now what? Spent the next 1/2 hour annoying both the CO and the local Enchantress until Animjason, Bhob and BearAdair show up. Together we try many things (none which work) until we get a gentle nudge from the local Enchantress and success!!! (and the peasants danced!). A container full of goodies! Later, after all the work was done, PMC and FeartheFish straggle in (like usual) to share in the spoils. As a consolation I took them over to TOSS so they could complete the interior caches there. I would give this two favs if that was allowed. Special props to the CO for what must have been a gigantic amount of work preparing this and to the local Enchantress for putting up with us for the 45 minutes that I was there! TFTC!
